Forest Players win MWJCA Awards!

 

A huge congratulations to two of our members, Oliver Cutbill and Stephen Longdon who recently won Awards at the Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association Gala Evening. Oliver won his Award for the best bowling figures in the u11 first division and Stephen for the best bowling aggregate and most wickets taken in u15. Way to go guys

Forest Cricket Presentation Day: 3 May

With only two weeks to go, the planning is underway for our annual presentation day. We will be holding the event on the 3rd May from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m at the Forest RSL Club. Please put a note in your diaries.

Celebrity 20/20 Big Bash- Bushfire Appeal

This Sunday, February 22, the SCG Trust, in partnership with Cricket NSW, be staging a Celebrity Twenty20 cricket match at the Sydney Cricket Ground to raise funds for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

All of our club players and their immediate family are invited to attend Sunday’s game as guests of the SCG Trust and Cricket NSW. The Twenty20 game will commence at 5.00pm on Sunday and you can gain free entry by producing a copy of the letter that has been mailed to you. Players include:

John Aloisi,  Matthew Hayden, Braith Anasta, Moises Henriques Michael Slater, Nathan Bracken, Glenn McGrath, Mark Taylor, David Warner, Peter Garret, Steve Waugh and many more...

Forest Cricket Family Day

We had a very successful Family day on Sunday, 28 November with lots of Forest cricket families joining us for a BBQ and some cricket action! A big thank you for Sean Ledbury who organised the BBQ and event and to all our member families for joining us! Click here to view some photos of the event.

Anyone for cricket over the School holidays?

The Manly Warringah Cricket Coaching School headed by Shawn Bradstreet are running cricket school holiday camps for players aged between 6 and 15. They are running for the week of 19th January - 22nd January at 2 locations - 

  • LM Graham Reserve, Manly (Mon- Wed); and
  • Nolans Reserve, North Manly (Thursday).

 Rep Cricket Trials

September 2008: Manly Warringah Junior Cricket have just announced the dates for their trials for the representative season. Trials are open to any child who plays cricket within the MWJCA competition (all our players) from u10 to u16. Click here for more details.

Girls CricHit Program Announced

Manly Warringah Junior Cricket have announced the details of the Girls Cric Hit competition. It will be run over 6 weeks starting on 6 September with a break over the school holidays and recommencing on 14 October for the last 3 weeks. It will be held at 2 venues -

  • Passmore 1, Campbell Pde, Manly Vale (closest to Condamine)
  • Kitchener 2: Pittwater Rd, #2 near the nets, Mona Vale.

It will start at 4:30 p.m and finish at 6 p.m. The last 2 weeks the girls will be involved in "Super 8" fun matches, to put their newly learned skills into practice. The cost of the program is $40 which includes a cricket bat and a "goodies" bag ... spread the word, this is a great deal and fantastic introduction to cricket for girls!  For more details click here.

Coach the Coaches Courses

Forest District Cricket Club is providing comprehensive training for our coaches to be conducted by Elite Cricket. These courses will be held on Saturday, 6 September and Sunday,14 September from 3 - 5 p.m at Melwood Oval.   

We strongly encourage all of our prospective coaches and other interested parents to attend. These courses are an excellent opportunity  to learn skills for all ages, coaching drills and skill sessions which you will be able to use throughout the season. If you would like to attend please e-mail our coaching co-ordinator, Scott Larsen by no later than 29 August

Umpiring Courses

All teams from u11's upwards are now obliged to have two ticketed umpires. The Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association are running courses (held over two evenings) to obtain an umpire's ticket. Our club is hosting the Stage two exam at the Forestville RSL Club. The sessions will start at 7:30 p.m. and finish by 10 p.m. Dates are -

Stage One -  Thursday, 28 August (Master Builders Club, Dee Why)

Stage Two (exam) - Wednesday, 10 September (Forestville RSL Club)

New Season Registrations


Registrations are closing soon for the 2008/9  season. If you are still interested in signing up,  please contact Mark Bromelow on registrar@forestcricket.com as soon as possible. Forest District Cricket Clubs has teams in the u8, u9,u10, u11 and u16/17 divisions. It is a dynamic young club with lots of enthusiastic parents and players. We would love to have you join in!

Two Forest teams named premiers for 2007/8 season

 The Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association held their annual Awards evening on the 30 June and Forest District Cricket Club was well represented! Out of our five teams, two of our Forest Teams were the premiers of their respective divisions - the Forest Greens (coached by our registrar, Mark Bromelow) won the U10 division two section and Forest u14 team were the division 2 premiers. A huge congratulations to our individual award winners - Samuel Larsen (Junior Cricketer of the Year), Daniel Schacher (Highest Batting Aggregate) and Stephen Longdon (Bowling Aggregate). Well done boys - you have done us proud!
